I don't want to come off as ungrateful. I am very grateful to be in the position I am in now. A position where I can do YouTube full time and get paid to create fun levels for me and my friends to play in videos. And I am eternally grateful to have been nominated in 2024 for the Best YouTuber category.
But I was really hoping to get nominated in this year's Geometry Dash Awards.
What I hate the most is that I'm not sure why I wasn't nominated. Since by pretty much every metric, I either matched or beat my performance last year (which is when I was nominated).
- In terms of hours of content, this year pretty much matched 2024. (Although it was slightly less since I delayed one video to 2026. If this video released in time, I would've far exceeded 2024.)
- In terms of views, each video averaged more than double my average views per video in 2024.
- In terms of video quality, I think this year had some of my best videos to date, such as the 100 player competition, the $1000 social experiment, and my fourth hide and seek with the Castle Dashers.
The only metric that was lower was the quantity of videos. Instead of uploading 22 videos, I only uploaded 11.
But as I said before, in terms of hours of content, I basically matched last year. So it feels like I get nominated when I upload 22 10 minute videos, but I don't get nominated when I upload 11 20 minute videos (which is basically what I did in 2025).
My best guess for why I didn't get nominated is this: the "committee" (the people who come up with the nominees) saw my channel, compared the number of uploads to 2024, noticed the stark decrease in uploads, and called it a day. If they instead noticed the length of each video, I like to imagine I had a shot at getting nominated this year.
But what irks me more than anything isn't the fact that I didn't get nominated. It's the fact that only six YouTubers got nominated instead of the eight in 2024.
I refuse to believe that Geometry Dash YouTube popped off any less in 2025 than in 2024. While some YouTubers like Tride took a bit of a break, so many others absolutely popped off.
Not only did I put together a playlist of the best videos/channels of 2025, but I even did a whole series where I shouted out a new upcoming YouTuber each month. So trust me when I say this has been one of the best years yet for Geometry Dash YouTube.
I'm definitely tooting my own horn here, but I definitely think I would've been the perfect seventh nominee. Since as previously stated, I pretty much matched last year in hours of content, but the videos were even longer, even better, and got more views. I'm very impressed with my 2025 performance, so the fact that all that wasn't enough to get nominated really makes me think getting nominated is more luck than anything.
I am not saying the people who got nominated shouldn't have been nominated. I'm just saying more should have been nominated. Even if you still think I fell off this year, many others deserved a nomination.
Even excluding the Best YouTuber category, I would've liked to have seen more videos in the Best Video category. Ender, Stallion, Androxma, Stormfly, Tatox3, and Vernosis each uploaded some huge videos. Not to mention everyone else in my aforementioned playlist. I would've loved to see even just one of them get a nomination, especially Ender, who has been at the forefront of Geometry Dash documentaries for years.
I also would've liked to get a Best Video nomination seeing as I uploaded my $1000 social experiment movie (which is 90 minutes long). My best guess for why it didn't get nominated is because of the intro being pretty similar to Ish's famous civilization video and it being pretty slow overall.
But:
- The first minute of a video really shouldn't determine the quality of the whole thing.
- This video is edited like a movie, not a YouTube video. So if you have a bad attention span, this video is not for you. But if you actually give it a real chance and watch it like a film instead of a video, I can guarantee you'll come out satisfied.
I recently uploaded my 70 minute long traps video featuring Zoink. Maybe this can get nominated for Best Video this year!
On the bright side, I am a member of this year's Geometry Dash Awards Jury!
This is a new thing the Awards are doing where instead of the winners solely being decided by the popular vote, 200 established Geometry Dash players will be part of the Jury. The winner will then be decided by 50% popular vote and 50% Jury vote.
This is great because it at least means the committee didn't forget about me! Which is always nice to know.
I am more than grateful for this opportunity. Trust me when I say I put in a lot of effort to decide who and what I would vote for. I played pretty much all the levels and did my best to not only take into account decoration, but also gameplay. I won't share my exact votes but I can assure you I put in the effort to make sure I was informed when I voted.
I hope more than anything the committee will also consider me to be on the Jury for 2026. I thought about not posting this article since I don't want to jeopardize my chances of getting on the 2026 Jury. But I like to believe my complaints here will be seen as in good faith.
In terms of levels, I think this year's Awards were great. So many amazing levels, creators, and players were showcased. But in terms of content, I feel this year was very unrepresentative.
I would be happy not getting nominated if eight (the seemingly max amount) of YouTubers were nominated. But a combination of:
- Me performing way better than normal in 2025
- Me not getting nominated
- And there still being only six nominees
Is what really irks me.
Anyway, please forgive me for this rant. I've just had this boiling in me for a few days and I really needed to let it out.
Fortunately, the plan for this year is to upload 22 20 minute videos. So hopefully the committee can see my hard work this year!
